Preventative Medicine
Our Mission is foremost to aid people of all ages
become proactive in their quest for a healthier life, through the prevention of
physical and mental illness. We wish to share our belief that it is much easier
to maintain one’s health, than try to regain it after it has been lost. Our
approach to wellness is based on the principles of Chinese Medicine
(acupuncture, qi gong...), and our primary method is that of education. We take
the time to help the patient understand the principles of healthy living and of
disease prevention.
“Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach him
how to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.” Lao Tzu
Treating the patient as well as the
disease, is the guiding principle of holistic approaches like acupuncture and
qigong. Helping the body to heal and to re-establishing a natural healthy
balance is the goal. A key aspect is to help you understand your individual
strengths and weaknesses while working with you to establish preventative
practices. Common preventative practices may involve seasonal acupuncture
treatments, tailoring your diet to the season or to your specific needs,
exercise practices such as Qigong, and more. In
our era the incidence of degenerative disease is on the rise, and we fear such
illness much more than infectious disease. In medical circles it is understood
that that early treatment and prevention are the best defences against
degenerative disorders. Holistic medicine is ideally suited for such tasks. A
qualified practitioner of holistic medicine takes the time to evaluate you
completely before attempting to guide you on the path to living to your full
health potential.
We believe that recurring symptoms, even
minor ones, are usually signals that some form of imbalance is taking root in
the body. Many people live with minor imbalances, such as slow digestion or
fatigue, without ever examining the long term repercussions of such ailments for
the body. An acupuncturist (holistic medical practitioner) will not only help
you to decode these signals, but also to understand their significance and how
to deal with them before they become more serious.
